STaff on the end of the phone always cheerful and helpful. Staff we dealt with onsite designing our kitchen clearly listened to what we wanted and worked hard to create a design we were happy with.

Bad experience with Kitchen Designer
I have used Howdens before and had really good service, when I went in mid July I found that the kitchen designer had changed. Instead of sitting down with me like the last one this one just took my (very rough) plan and said he would get back to me. The kitchen I was looking for was for a rental property so a tiny order. I received the plan a week or so later but it had no hob or oven in it (I should have realised something was wrong at this point) so was redone. I then realised the gas metre was missing from my measurements (my fault) so I needed an update. Nothing came, after a month, and when my builder said he would be ready in a couple of weeks I contacted the kitchen designer who claimed he had sent it out, not true. He then said he would do it, contradicting his earlier statement. Then nothing, unanswered emails etc. in the end I went to the store in person to hurry him up. Finally a plan was complete a delivery date set and i paid for the order. £100 delivery. On the week of delivery I was told the price of delivery needed to go up to £200 as it was to be delivered in London (a fact that was known before). I said that was ridiculous and could the order be placed with a London store? No apparently not- the only way to do this would be to cancel the order and reorder. My builder was already at the property at this point so that seemed a big risk. He also called a local Howdens to see about a transfer where he was told it would be really complicated as I had already paid and the kitchen I had ordered is now and old line that will be stopped!! I had not been told this by my kitchen planner, any replacements will not now be stocked. My builder asked me to cancel the worktops as he could see the width wasnt correct and he could get different ones elsewhere, I did this and the order went to London. Very helpful delivery man however one unit was missing. The kitchen designer organised for another Howdens to send this over (why could they not have done this with the whole order I ask). This is not the end to this miserable story, I am due a refund for the work tops and upstand but as my partner is having chemo, my son has broken his arm and there are huge roadworks just outside the Howdens store I ask to be refunded by bank transfer by their head office, I am told that this is fine and head office have been sent my bank details. 10 days later after a phone call and three emails I am told my builders Howdens account has been credited with the £1000 plus refund at some point in the last 10 days without mention of this to me or him. But if I go into the store I can reclaim it. I have to take 30mins off work to get to the Howdens before it shuts where I am told there is not enough money in my builders Howdens account to pay me the full refund I need to just have what is there and perhaps he used the rest to pay for things for the kitchen anyway!!!!! I did get my full refund after arguing my point that I didnt ever agree to have the refund paid into the builders account. I am never using Howdens again. I dont think that everyone is hopeless I think I have come across an incompetent kitchen designer who constantly lied, covered up his tracks and didnt do the things he was asked to do.
