Terrible customer service, poor quality goods
I bought an integrated kitchen from Howdens seafield last summer, after initially appearing to display a good standard of customer service, it was short lived. As part of my kitchen, I bought all integrated appliances through Howdens. The washing machine they have provided constantly leaks with every wash and has now splint the wood in my kickboard below- already needing replaced. I have been in regular contact with Howdens about this fault, with myself requiring to do all the chasing, yet to date they have offered no resolution. They have simply sent a worker out on 3 occasions now to look at the machine who advises only a quarter of a capsule can be used in a wash and only washes less than a half hour! I have also been advised by Howdens that these washing machines "are well known to leak!" As I continue to try and resolve this issue, I have tried with quarter of a capsule, half full machine and a half hour wash yet the machine is still leaking all over my flooring and not adequately washing clothes, which appears a bare minimal I should expect from a new machine. I have been to the shop multiple times to speak with the manager and each time have been advised he will "get back to me" - often I need to chase this after a few weeks have passed and his solution appears to be sending someone out to look at the machine and the process starts again. I am extremely disappointed with this substandard level of customer service, the lack of transparency when selling me the integrated washing machine that is a model known to have issues and also the length of time it has taken Howdens to arrange any acceptable resolution. I would never recommend Howdens seafield as it does not appear their aftercare is in anyway even reaching a bare minimal level of satisfactory customer service.

Brilliant customer service and value for money.
I run a small property rental company in Edinburgh. I recently ordered new kitchens, flooring and doors from Howdens at their Seafield branch. Due to clients changing their minds there was a lot of chopping and changing with the kitchens. Quite a bit of the orders had to be returned to Howdens and exchanged for other choices. Gary the Howdens manager was brilliant displaying great flexibility with these exchanges and was ably assisted in his can do attitude by David and Ben of Howdens. The value for money, quality materials and superb customer service make Howdens my first choice.

Perfect fire doors
I bought four fire doors from Howdens, at a great price. The doors are very nice and stylish. The joiner said they were the heaviest fire doors he has come across. Gary (from Howdens) was extremely helpful, and also organised delivery for me (at a cost obviously). I can highly recommend Howdens, Seafield, Edinburgh.

Excelent Kitchen, Poor Customer Service
We chose Howdens kitchens because they were reccomended, the units were excelent quality and the kitchen fitters employed were excellent. We contacted Howdens Seafield branch and innitially had a good experience with the kitchen designer, Once our fitter striped out the kitchen, he fortunately checked the measurement of the kitchen, only to find both measurements taken were seriously wrong which meant the designer had to come back and remeasure and redesign the space, which meant we had no time to to process the changes that had been made, the kitchen was reduced in area and many of our needs were not met and we felt pressured to start the work since we now had no kitchen at all. It took two weeks to complete the kitchen, but because we had chosen custom built solid worktops, these could not be measured until the kitchen was completed. I asked when ordering whether they would supply temporary worktops, I was told that they did not supply temp worktops. We had a visit from the worktop manufacturer to measure the area to be covered by the worktop which had a built in sink, it was two weeks to construct the worktop, only to discover that the sink when it arrived had been placed in the wrong place and had to be reordered, another two weeks wait, this was another month without a hob. we later we discovered that Howdens also own the worktop manufacturer. In total it took six weeks and three days to complete the kitchen and to refund me over a £1000. which was the balance due to us after the redesign, this could not be dealt with because the branch manager was on holiday for most of the month and no-one could authorise the repayment. I have since discovered that Howdens Kitchen are a very difficult company to contact, they have no online pressence to deal with complaints, other than one email address who then forwards to customer services. Branch managers are autonomus, so make there own decissions, as I suspect will be the same for worktops. Customer service can or will not do anything. We have been trying for months now to get some resolution or compensation for the catalogue of cockups by Howdens Kitchens.
